Where did this paragon of the feline specimen come from? Well…

Once upon a time, there was a cat by the name of Sir Snugsalot. He was the familiar of an arcane graduate student at Wynarn University’s School for Applied Arcana. His life was simple, but content: Sir Snugsalot’s name was well-earned, for he very much liked to snuggle. And his master constantly required such shows of affection, for his master was a slothful student and poor money-manager. And also something of a coward: To avoid conscription, a deal was struck whereby he would Awaken Sir Snugsalot and hand him over to the Aundairian authorities for use in the war effort. Upon being Awakened and discovering his best friend had sold him out to save his own skin, Sir Snugsalot vanished into the ether, never to be seen again.

There’s a reason why Kip doesn’t like talking about his past.
