Princess Austasia Dimara Wreyna ir’Wynarn is the first daughter and third child of Queen Aurala I of Aundair. Having been born into the lap of luxury, she should have been content enough spend her days wallowing in the fruits of her birth or doing busy-work as the head of a major ministry. But like a proper Disney princess, she longed for more. Or, at the very least, the same treatment her mother received: The right to choose who she would wed. Aurala, perhaps bent on dynasty-building, would have none of it and arranged for her eldest daughter to be wed to a high-ranking of House Lyrander three times Austasia’s age. Proving genre savvy, Austasia opted to become an Action Princess, commissioning adventurers to “kidnap” her from Fairhold and then going on the lam.
Austasia ran into one small problem, however. Her mother dispatched elements of the Knights Phantom, the premiere Aundairian special operations battalion, to pursue her. Austasia and her would-be kidnappers managed to outwit their pursuers for two weeks before being trapped in Passage, where she was separated from her compatriots and forced to flee to Sharn to stay ahead of the Knights Phantom. It was there that she met the party while attempting to escape from Terminus Station. One heroic intervention later and the party, with Austasia in tow, gave the slip to the Knights Phantom.
Intending to drop her off in Wroat, the party found themselves over a barrel when it was discovered that the estate of Luken ir’Clarn, Austasia’s destination, was the site of a de facto harem run by a most bodacious party dude. With little choice but to let her tag along, Austasia — now dubbing herself “Mara” in a truncation of one of her middle names — joined the party along with her trust pet dragonhawk, Efram. She’s proven surprisingly useful, being an adept combatant, detrapper, appraiser, and provider of magical transport for the party.
